Matteo D'Avanzo

Matteo D’Avanzo is a Polonsky Postdoctoral Fellow at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. He earned his PhD in History jointly from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and INALCO in Paris. His research focuses on Jewish history in Africa, particularly its intersections with colonialism, the Holocaust, and Jewish-Christian relations. He held research fellowships at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Addis Ababa University, University of Hamburg, the Simon Dubnow Institute in Leipzig, and Yad Vashem.
