Milleni Freitas Rocha

Milleni Freitas Rocha, is a PhD student in Social History at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and received her Masters Degree in Sociology from the Federal Fluminense University in 2023.

Milleni's doctoral research investigates how the Holocaust is used contemporary Brazilian religious groups linked to the Assembly of God - the second largest evangelical denomination in Brazil. The theme is relevant to bring to light new formulations for dealing with the memory of the Holocaust (or Shoah) and its products. The worldview presented by these materials is based on a philo-Semitic narrative, close to symbols of Judaism and the State of Israel, and at the same time anti-Semitic, as they believe in the idea of a powerful global Jewish conspiracy that should be seen as an ally. These confessional worldviews also impact public debate about the Holocaust and Jewishness.
